THE REASON BEHIND THIS PROJECT

The Ondo City Sports Stadium has historically served as a center for athletic development, youth engagement, and community cohesion. Its current dilapidated condition has deprived young people of opportunities for sports, recreation, and talent development. Revitalizing this stadium is an investment in health, youth empowerment, and social unity.

WHY THE EKIMOGUNS MUST ACT

This initiative recognizes that sustainable development begins with community ownership. Rather than waiting indefinitely for the Ondo State government to intervene, we, the Ekimoguns, at home and in the diaspora, are capable of leading from the front, as we have been known for self-initiative development, by choosing to take responsibility for a shared asset that benefits present and future generations.

• It is not controlled by any individual

Project Transparency & Fund-Protection Framework

This initiative has been intentionally structured to meet the highest standards of financial transparency, risk protection, and donor accountability, while recognizing the concerns of Nigerians in the diaspora about fund misuse.

The stadium refurbishment is divided into clearly defined project items (e.g., track, field, seating, sanitation, gym facilities, etc.). Each item is independently funded and executed.

Key safeguards include:

• Direct-to-Vendor Payments:
  Donations are made directly into a dedicated bank account provided by the contractor or supplier responsible for that specific project item. No funds are pooled or held by individuals or committees.

• Mandatory Insurance Protection:
  Contractors must provide insurance coverage safeguarding all donated funds against insolvency, bankruptcy, or the death of key principals.

• Public Receipts & Audit Trail:
  Every donor submits a payment receipt, which is published on the project website. This creates a real-time, publicly accessible record of all contributions.

• Delivery-Linked Funding:
  Funds raised for an item are used solely for that item. Delivery is verified before the project advances to the next phase.

This model ensures that every contribution is traceable, protected, and tied directly to measurable physical outcomes.
